Research Staffs

Xiangdang Xue obtained his B.Eng. degree from Hefei University of Technology, Hefei, China in 1984, his M.Eng. degree from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China in 1987, and his Ph.D. degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong in 2004, all in electrical engineering. Dr. Xue engaged in teaching and research in Department of Electrical Engineering, Tianjin University, China, from 1987 to 2001, as a lecturer and an associate professor. He is currently with Department of Electrical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as a research fellow. Dr. Xue’s research interests are in the areas of electrical machines, electrical drives, power electronics, and energy storage systems. He has published over 100 papers and is the holder of four USA patents and three China patents.

H.F. Ho, James received the B. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is currently a Research Fellow with the Power Electronics Research Centre, Department of Electrical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include intelligent control, adaptive control, robust control and power converter control.

Yulong Fan is a research assistant in the department of Electrical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, and master degree in Control Engineering in Shenzhen university. He is currently working on the UI design of the super-capacity/battery management system. He also focused on Direct-driven and precision motion control.

Chi-Pang Chan is a Research Associate in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2011 and 2013 respectively. He is currently working on the development of softwares, which including monitoring system, control system, communication system, payment system, and user interface in C, C++.

Yu Zou is a Research Assistant in the Power Electronic Research Center of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received bachelor degree in Electronic Information Engineering at Hubei University in 2010 and Master degree in Control Sciences and Engineering at Shenzhen University in 2013, respectively. After then, he entered PolyU as a research assistant. He is currently working on the Design and Control of Electric Machines, Electromagnetic simulations and High Frequency Electromagnetic Shielding analysis. He is good at designing and controlling linear switched reluctance machines and their applications.

 

Research Students

Li Siyang obtained his BSc degrees from the South China University of Technology in 2012. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D degree at Power Electronics Research Centre in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interest mainly focuses on the, Energy conversion, Solar tracking system for CPV power generation system, Design and control the SR motor, as well as energy storage.

S. Raghu Raman completed his B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, India in June 2012. In Feb. 2014, he joined power electronics research centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a research assistant where he's now working toward the Ph.D. degree. His research interests include design and control power electronics converters, electric vehicle technologies, energy storage and renewable energy systems.

Y. C. Fong received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 2013, where he is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as a Research Intern in 2013 and now is a Research Student. His research interests include dc-dc power converters, multilevel inverters, switched-capacitor circuits and battery management systems.

Xiaolin Wang received her master degree in Electrical Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2013. Currently, she is a PhD. student in the department of Electrical Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Her research interests include power converters, balancing circuits of supercapacitorsand battery management systems.
