The PESA Conference

The Third International Conference on Power Electronics Systems and Applications will be held 20-22 May 2009, Hong Kong. This year, the conference theme is Electric Vehicle and Environmental Energy Issue. This three-day conference focuses on the recent research and the industrial projects of power electronics, electric vehicle and new energy technology.  The conference aims to be a key international forum for the exchange and dissemination of technical information on power electronics among academics and practicing engineers in the field.

Keynote Speakers

Dr. Kitty Poon holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University, a Master Degree in International Affairs from the Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Government and Public Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  Before joining the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Dr. Poon had been the Assistant Professor of the Department of Applied Social Sciences in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

 

Mr. Frederic Maury has been TÜV SÜD’s Managing Director for the South region since September 2008.He is leading the TÜV SÜD’s operations in the South region of Greater China which includes Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Xiamen offices.

Professor Jie Wu is a famous automatic control expert in China. He has worked on the researches about the theory and applications of the self-adaptive self-organizing controls for a long time. Professor Wu has published over 300 technical papers, in which about 100 papers was indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP.

Mr. Niu XiXian is a great inventor. In 2000, after two years of collaborative research with a number of world-renowned experts in nano-materials at HarvardUniversity and the University of Southern California, he developed the carbon nano-Su-cell battery. The breakthrough is in full compliance with electric vehicle, electric bicycle, and electric motorcycle requirements .

Professor K.W.E.Cheng obtained his BSc and PhD degrees both from the University of Bath in 1987 and 1990 respectively.Before he joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1997, he was with Lucas Aerospace, United Kingdom as a Principal Engineer and led a number of power electronics projects.

Dr. Qing (Que) Chen is the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Embedded Power Business of Emerson Network Power. He is in charge of technology and platform development of AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC power conversion products that are used in IT, communication, medical and industrial applications, alternative and renewable energy.

 

Mr. Lixin Situ received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York (SUNY-Buffalo) and MS in electrical engineering in 1998 and 1999 respectively.

The coming conference features technical presentations and panel discussion sessions. The technical presentations will be presented by eminent academics, engineers and managers around the world and will cover topics of current interest in the area of  automotive engineering, alternative energy source, power processing, power conditioning, energy storage static power conversion, machines, drives, traction, devices, simulation, and energy saving. The panel discussion sessions will provide an open forum for exchanging ideas on the recent development, applications and new standards in power electronics.

The conference is supported by a number of electric vehicle, environment and energy related organisation and industry. Renowned industrialists and researchers will give keynote speeches in the Conference.  Selected papers will be published in the Asian Power Electronics Journal.

Paper Submission

The paper is in double column and is similar to most IET or IEEE journal format.  The conference paper guidelines can be downloaded which will provide basic instructions for preparing paper for the Conference Proceedings. 

  1. Only on-line submission will be accepted.
  2. The presentation papers should strictly follow our paper format as outline in the paper guidelines.
  3. Once we have received the manuscript, we assume that the corresponding author(s) grant us the copyright to use the manuscript for the conference proceedings.
  4.  There is no paper limit but please try to keep within 6 pages.
  5. Our preferred software format is Microsoft Word®.  This will allow us to make minor typeset modifications if necessary by our editorial team.
  6. The due date for full paper submission is 17 February, 2009.  This date should be strictly observed to avoid disappointment.
  7. Electronic files of the papers should be submitted via email directly to our Editorial Committee eepesa09@polyu.edu.hk
